In order to get the best from your Greenland
adventure tour it is important, both for your
sake and that of the others in the group, that
you choose a tour best suited to your physical
expectations and with the level of comfort you
desire.
We uses a grading system that
runs from 1 to 5 and each tour is given a grade
reflecting its level of difficulty. The grading
system is based on several factors that
determine the level of physical fitness
required ; the condition of foot paths, the
number of height meters climbed in a day, the
length of the tour, the weight to be carried
during the trek and the average climatic
conditions.
This grading system is only for
our tours and cannot be compared to other
systems.
Preparations before
leaving
Walking in the mountains will test your fitness.
To prepare yourself before departure we
recommend cycling, aerobics, swimming and, of
course, long walks in hilly terrain. During the
long climbs on treks it is the heart and lungs
that are put to the test and it is then that
good basic fitness is rewarded. On long, steep
descents it is the knees and feet that are put
under more pressure than they are perhaps used
to. You should be sure your legs are up to it
before you leave. The better condition you are
in, the more you will enjoy the trip with a
little energy left to take in the surroundings.
If you have any unanswered questions about the
grading you are welcome to ring us and we will
try to help you choose the tour that suits you
best.
