Welcome
to the Lofoten Islands Sea Kayak Expedition, an Inn to Inn adventure above
the Arctic Circle.
We
have invested countless hours designing this expedition, an experience sure
to exceed expectations.
We
hope you will enjoy your journey with us as much as we have enjoyed creating
it.
The Lofoten Islands Sea Kayak Expedition is an outstanding journey through
a magical land of contrasts.
It
encompasses a distance of 100-130km with an average paddling duration of 5 -
7 hours per day, not
including
breaks.
On this expedition we stay in choice Rorbuer – fishermen’s cabins; here
participants will live in the same fashion
as
fishermen of past centuries. Our guides prepare and serve both breakfast and
lunch; while for supper we will
enjoy
local specialties at some of the best restaurants in the Lofoten Islands.
Accommodation:
Rorbu accommodation: a rorbu is a traditional fisherman’s cabin and
accommodates 4 to 8 persons. A rorbu is a
self-contained
fisherman’s cabin that was traditionally large enough to house one boat crew
consisting of 4 to 8
fishermen.
Each rorbu has a common room with a kitchen and bedrooms and/or hems for
sleeping. There is also
one
bath with a shower in each rorbu. The rorbu complexes we have chosen for our
accommodation have all
been
recently renovated and are very comfortable.
Your hotel on the last night in Bodø: we will stay at the Rica Hotel
Bodø - the accommodation in Bodø is based
on
double occupancy.
N.B. Coastal Odyssey reserves the right to make route and accommodation
changes as needed
Meals:
All meals are included except the last day’s dinner (either in Svolvær or
on the Hurtigruten back to Bodø).
There
is always plenty of fresh and tasty food on our tours. Nature’s grocery
store is the source of most of
our
ingredients. Abundant fish and seafood, wild meats, wholesome breads, tasty
cheeses, fresh vegetables
and
arctic berries provide nourishment and taste delicious. You’ll be sure to
find something that will suit your
taste
at our European breakfasts, picnic lunches, while for supper we will enjoy
local specialties at some of
Lofoten’s
best restaurants. With advanced notice most dietary restrictions can be
happily accommodated.
