The
ship was built in Hamburg in 1956, and was until 1993 in service on the
Norwegian Coastal Voyage.
From
1994 she has been sailing along the northwest coast of Spitsbergen during
summer season.
She was
rebuilt and modernized at the start of the 80's and again in the spring of
2000.
The ship has beautiful salons with a modern design and a touch of the old
Atlantic cruise ships. The
outside areas have also been refurbished and the
ship has a proper wooden deck.
The ship is equipped with a bar, dining room, café, and a panoramic lounge.
She also has a fleet of tender
boats for excursions.
MS Nordstjernen has 55 cruise cabins, all with upper/lower berths. The
cabins are not wheelchair accessible.
