A peaceful and romantic
journey on the Göta Canal, joining the North Sea
and the Baltic, is a journey through
Swedish history, dating
back to 1869! Cruise down the Göta Canal, one of
the World's most impressive waterways,
stretching across Sweden,
linking Göteborg in the west and Stockholm in
the east. The canal route passes the
archipelagos of thousands
of islands and through 65 locks. With many stops
en route, this leisurely trip takes you
past fortress ruins,
medieval cloister, Royal Palaces, 12th century
churches, picturesque hamlets and lush Swedish
forests. Göta Canal is
member of the Romantik Hotels and Restaurants,
and offers some of the finest cuisine in all
of Sweden. The captain and
crew are Swedish. In 1998, the Göta Canal was
awarded the distinction of
" International Historic
Civil Engineering Landmark". Among the 25
historic buildings that have received this award
are the Eiffel Tower, the
Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate Bridge.
