EXCURSIONS IN ALLUITSUP PAA

Alluitsup Paa is located one hundred kilometers south of Narsarsuaq. The destination reminds in many ways of the Disko Bay area in West Greenland and the two are often compared with each other.
With icebergs drifting in the fiord and whales staying close to the shore, Alluitsup Paa is without a doubt the most exotic destination in South Greenland.

C1: Village Walk Alluitsup Paa
The cozy fishing village of Alluitsup Paa surrounded by steep mountains is different to most other towns and villages in South Greenland - in many ways it reminds about villages in the Disko Bay Area.

We walk slowly through the town and the guide explains about daily life and tells the history of the village. Lunch at a local restaurant.

C2: The Hot Springs of Uunartoq and Lichtenau
By boat to the island of Uunartoq where it will be possible to take a bath in the geothermal hot spring, while enjoying the view of icebergs slowly floating by in the nearby fiord. At Uunartoq we also spend time visiting ruins and graves of old Eskimo settlements. Packed lunch included.

The cruise continues through the fjord to the colorful settlement Lichtenau - a former missionary station and now deserted.

C4: Home Visit Alluitsup Paa
Visit a Greenland home, enjoy the "Coffee-Mik" (a cup of coffee, which by tradition is served to all visitors) and learn about Greenland and its population.
