WEATHER CONDITIONS IN APRIL/MAY:
• Average temperature approx. -10ºC
• We may have temperatures down to approx. -25ºC
• Daylight around the clock
• Cold winds are common
EQUIPMENT THAT EVERY PARTICIPANT
SHOULD HAVE:
• Bag
or backpack for personal equipment
• Driver’s
license (for car or motorbike)
•
Suitcase/bag which can be left in Longyearbyen
during the safari for the clothes we don’t need
to bring
along on the scooter safari
• Warm cap
(we do not wear the helmet all the time)
• Scarf or
fleece-tube
• 1 pair of
gloves or mittens (we recommend wool)
• 2 sets long
underwear (long johns and sweater, we recommend
wool)
• Warm and
thick woolen sweater or thick fleece
jacket/sweater
• 2 pairs of
thick woolen socks (the scooter boots are big
enough for warm and thick socks)
• 1 windproof
and warm trouser (to have under the
scooter-suit)
• 1-2 set of indoor leisure wear to use at the hotels and
Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge
• Indoor shoes for use at the
hotels and Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge
• Sunglasses
• Toilet articles
• Contact lenses (for those using glasses)
• Cash (in NOK) for payment for drinks at the Hotel in Barentsburg
and Spitsbergen Lodge as well as
is if one would like to buy souvenirs in
Barentsburg. They do not accept credit card in
Barentsburg.
IN ADDITION WE RECOMMEND:
• Binoculars
• 1 wind stopper fleece jacket (to wear under the scooter
suit)
• 1 extra set of in-between-layer (for
example a extra set of thin fleece sweater/long johns)
• Camera (film is sold in Longyearbyen)
• Cold blocker cream (not based on water)
• Pack the clothes in plastic bags
THE TOUR OPERATOR PROVIDES THE
FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT:
• Snowmobile clothing (suit, boots, gloves/mittens, helmet,
balaclava and goggles)
• All common equipment
