Day 1 Tuesday
09:55 SK4414 from Oslo via Tromsø (arr. 11:45,
dep. 12:25), arrival 14:05, transfer to
Spitsbergen Guesthouse included.
15:00 Information meeting/briefing at the
guesthouse. Time to look around in Longyearbyen,
shopping, visit at Svalbard Museum.
19:00 Dinner in Brasseri Nansen at Radisson SAS
Polar Hotel Spitsbergen.
Day 2 Wednesday (B, L, D)
07:00 Breakfast is served until 10:00.
10:00 Before lunch we prepare the expedition,
going through the gear and instructions for use
of cooking gear, pulkas, ski equipment, tent,
food and drinks. We discuss clothing, ski
techniques, etc.
12:30 Lunch in Brasseri Nansen.
After lunch we do the final packing of all of
our equipment for our ski expedition.
19:00 Dinner in Funktionærmessen Restaurant at
Spitsbergen Hotel.
Day 3 Thursday (B, L, D)
07:00 Breakfast and check out prior 09:00.
09:00 Transportation by Polarcircle boat from
Longyearbyen, to our drop off point at the
Nordenskiöld glacier in Billefjorden. From there
we start our journey, skiing north.
Day 3-19 Thursday-Saturday (B, L, D)
Skiing in the northeastern areas of Spitsbergen,
from the Nordenskiöld glacier to the
northernmost point of Spitsbergen,
Verlegenhuken. During 16 days we ski app.. 250
km. On our way we aim to reach the summit of
Newtontoppen, the highest mountain on Svalbard
(1,713 meters above sea level). We’re also
crossing the 80th parallel on skis, and ski
along the beautiful coastline in Sorgfjorden.
Day 19 Saturday - M/S NORDSTJERNEN (B, L, D)
The ski expedition ends in Sorgfjorden where M/S
Nordstjernen will pick us up, at midday,
Saturday. Cruising south. Dinner on board.
Day 20 Sunday (B, L, D)
10:00 Arrival time
Ny-Ålesund. Guided walk in town, with
information about the history of
coalmining and exploration. Time for individual
walk around, museum visit and souvenir
shopping (credit cards accepted).
12:00 Departure Ny-Ålesund. We sail south along
the coast of Prins Karls Forland and return
to Isfjorden. Organizing equipment, packing
gear.
Farewell party and dinner on board MS
Nordstjernen in the evening.
Day 21 Monday (B)
02:00 Approximately arrival time in
Longyearbyen. Disembarkation.
03:30 Transfer from the pier to the airport.
04:05 SK4493/SK4409 to Oslo, via Tromsø (arr.
05:40, dep. 06:50), arrival Oslo at 08:45.
04:50 SK4497 to Oslo, direct flight, arrival
Oslo at 07:45.
08:00 Latest embarkation from the ship for late
departures or those with additional nights. No
breakfast included. Transfer from harbour to
Spitsbergen Hotel where it is possible to buy
breakfast (NOK 85,-) and to store the luggage.
14:45 SK4425 to Oslo via Tromsø (arr. 16:20,
dep. 17:10), arr. 19:00, airport shuttle (NOK
50,-).
