A fascinating journey through Iceland's wilderness and unspoiled nature. Beginning with the Thingvellir National Park, seat of the ancient Icelandic Parliament. The southern coast of Snæfellsnes peninsula awaits you with jewels such as Arnarstapi and Snæfellsjökull Glacier. Passing the fishing villages Hellissandur, Grundarfjörður and Stykkishólmur we arrive at Eiríksstaðir in Dalir area, the former home of Eirík the Red. Visit the historical Glaumbær farm-museum in Skagafjörður before heading over Öxnadalur pass to Akureyri, capital of the North. From Lake Mývatn across the wilderness of Sprengisandur, passing the largest continuous lava field in Iceland, Ódáðahraun. From Landmannalaugar, the tour follows the Fjallabaksleið interior track to Skaftafell National Park and the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon. Across the broad Eldhraun lava fields and the black flood plain of Mýrdalssandur. A short visit to Dyrhólaey headland and the southernmost point of Iceland, passing two waterfalls, Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss  en route to the great Geysir and Strokkur, Europe's most powerfully spouting hot spring. Onwards to Gullfoss Waterfall, often called the golden fall, in the sunshine often spanned by rainbows. Visit Þingvellir National Park, site of the ancient Viking parliament, before heading back to Reykjavík.
 

Day 1 ÞINGVELLIR– SNAEFELLSNES (D)
Depart Reykjavík to Þingvellir National Park. From there proceed over the mountain pass Kaldidalur to Hraunfossar waterfall and Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in the world, before heading to Snæfellsnes peninsula.



Day 2 SNAEFELLSNES PENINSULA (B, D)

Explore the magnificent columnar basalt rock formations at Arnarstapi, before circling around the legendary Snæfellsjökull glacier. Passing the village Stykkishólmur before visiting Eric the Red museum. Cross Laxárdalsheiði to the North.


Day 3 SKAGAFJÖRÐUR - AKUREYRI - TJÖRNES

(B, D)
Visit the regional history museum at Glaumbær, a turf-roofed farmhouse. Continue to Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland for a short sightseeing tour, before heading for Goðafoss waterfall onto Tjörnes peninsula.

Day 4 ASBYRGI - DETTIFOSS - MÝVATN (B, D)

Progress to Ásbyrgi, a horseshoe-shaped canyon then continue to Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe, in the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. Then onto Mývatn area, a wonderland for nature enthusiasts, surrounded by lava fields, volcanoes and mountains.



Day 5 LAKE MÝVATN - SPRENGISANDUR (B, D)

The tour continues inland across the wilderness of Sprengisandur, passing the largest continuous lava field in Iceland, Ódáðahraun.


Day 6 LANDMANNALAUGAR – SKAFTAFELL NATIONAL PARK (B, D)

First stop at Landmannalaugar, a magnificent area surrounded by colorful rhyolite mountains with the option of bathing in a natural warm pool. From Landmannalaugar, the tour follows the Fjallabaksleið interior track to Skaftafell National Park.
 

Day 7 JÖKULSÁRLÓN GLACIAL LAGOON - SKAFTAFELL (B, D)
Visit to Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon for an optional boat tour among the floating icebergs. Enjoy hiking and spending an afternoon exploring Skaftafell National Park one of Iceland’s most outstanding areas of natural beauty, dominated by Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest ice cap.



Day 8 VIK - DYRHÓLAEY (B, D)

Proceed over the vast Eldhraun lava fields of Mýrdalssandur sands with a short visit to Dyrhólaey headland. On the way to Hella area, pass two beautiful waterfalls, Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss.

Day 9 GULLFOSS - GEYSIR - BLUE LAGOON - REYKJAVIK

Drive to the thermal area of the great Geysir and Strokkur, a spouting hot spring. Onwards to the golden waterfall Gullfoss and along the south coast of the Reykjanes peninsula, ending the tour at the Blue Lagoon for a refreshing bath.
