NORTHERN LIGHTS & REYKJAVIK

6 days / 5 nights, Reykjavik - Akureyri - Lake Mývatn -

Godafoss Waterfall - Blue Lagoon - Reykjavik

Departures Daily: 01 October 2005 – 30 April 2006

The Aurora Borealis are mesmerizing, dynamic displays of light that appear in the nighttime Arctic skies. Aurora borealis - the northern aurora, forms in an oval centered on the north magnetic pole in the Artic. Few sights can equal the magic and mystery of these luminous sheets of color playing in the frigid air of an Arctic night. Our exciting Northern Lights program takes you on a search of the magic and colorful auroral display of lights and colors. No words can describe the splendor or the magnificence of the natural phenomenon that occur around Earth’s north and south geomagnetic poles, known in the north regions as the Northern Lights. The colorful displays, caused by magnetic disturbances from the sun, produce light when colliding with atoms in the upper atmosphere. To see the “Aurora Borealis” it needs to be cold, still and a clear sky. The best time to see them in Iceland is during mid November through March. For viewing the Northern Lights and discovering the wonders of Icelandic winter, there are few areas better than Lake Mývatn. On our semi- escorted tour, packed with guided excursions, we combine the adventure of staying in the Icelandic country side, far away from city lights, with a stay in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
