Enjoy an adventurous 2-day Jeep tour to the famous Mt. Hekla, an active volcano, with the most recent eruption on February 26, 2000. Ride in a Land-Rover with your driver-guide, along a rough mountain track and several rivers, passing beautiful waterfalls, to the beautiful Thórsmörk valley with it’s strange troll-like rocks, elf churches and vertical cliff walls. Þórsmörk is truly a magical place of tranquility, fantastic mountains, spectacular glaciers, adventurous rivers, situated between 3 glaciers in a place of surreal beauty. Overnight in a cozy countryside hotel on the banks of the East Ranga River, South Iceland’s only 4 star facilities, with an acclaimed restaurant with scenic riverside setting. Enjoy your dinner, and on a clear day, views of the active volcano Hekla, the Eyjafjallajökull Glacier and the Vestmannaeyjar Islands. After dinner take a relaxing dip in the outdoor hot pools, and with some luck, maybe you can experience the spectacle of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights.

Day 1 REYKJAVIK - MT. HEKLA - HJÁLPARFOSS (D)
From Reykjavík over the mountain range of Hellisheiði to Hveragerði. Traverse the wide plains of Southern Iceland to Thjórsár valley at the root Mt. Hekla. Visit Hjálparfoss waterfall, then on to the old Viking farm of Stöng, dating back to the first settlers. Climb as far as possible with our jeep to enjoy a fantastic view over countless lava fields from numerous eruptions before continuing down south in the afternoon to our accommodation. Overnight Hotel Ranga.
Day 2 THORSMÖRK - GLACIERS - REYKJAVIK (B)
Today we head for Thorsmörk, a picturesque site hidden between the three glaciers Mýrdalsjökull, Eyjafjallajökull and Tindfjallajökull. Thorsmörk is comprised of a series of small valleys cut with several deep gorges and canyons, dominated by the celebrated volcano Hekla. Thorsmörk is an ideal area for several short and easy hikes. On our way back to Reykjavik we will visit Gígjökull glacier for a short hike and Seljalandsfoss waterfall, a unique waterfall in the river Seljalandsá.
